The Digital Explorer provides training and consultancy to engage and educate those pupils who remain in the classroom.
Google Earth – training courses at a central London venue and in schools
This practical workshop will show teachers how to create virtual fieldwork using Google Earth as a template. It will involve hands-on experience with digital cameras and GPS units creating mini-fieldwork projects in Hyde Park. Participants will then be shown how this data can be transformed into a virtual journey using Google Earth.
Digital Video – training in school for teachers and pupils
Develop the skills to film and edit high quality films suitable for web broadcast. Ideal to bring remote parts of the world to life. A practising filmmaker will take you through the steps and tips to make more professional short videos.
Blogging and online Social Networking – training in schools and design
Have your own blog for each trip. This platform allows for the easy upload of video, audio, images and text to the internet. It also has great functionality to allow pupils in the UK to interact with pupils on the visit.
Remote communications – training and equipment hire
If your trip is away from all internet access, learn how to use the equipment that will allow you to blog from half-way up Everest or anywhere else with a view of the sky.
Educational Consultancy
Whether it be a brief chat about how to create the right educational focus for the visit orĀ help with creating a full curriculum based programme, the Digital Explorer helps schools to bring the world to the classroom.
